Surroundings
The nearby Boulevard and beach has many restaurants and beach bars and therefore offers more than enough places to swim and sunbathe, enjoy the sunset with a drink or dance under the stars. It is the vibrant life at Sea Aquarium / Mambo Beach Boulevard beach that attracts many visitors. Less than a kilometer away you will come to the Pietermaai neighborhood, with its many restaurants and bars.
There are plenty of places to swim, dive or practice your favorite water sports in the nearby area. The longest beach on the island is SeaAquarium beach, also known as Mambo Beach BLVD, with a length of 260 meters. It is the closest beach to the center of Punda. On the beach there are 4 hotels and more than 12 restaurants. It is the most popular beach for locals and tourists. At the end of the beach are the Dolphin Academy and Sea Aquarium, two open water complexes with dolphins and many aquariums with exotic fish. The beach comes alive after sunset and buzzes with nightlife.
PIETERMAAI / PIETERMAAI SMAL
Boutique accommodations, small stores, cozy cafes and first-class restaurants, all together, make this neighborhood easily walkable and perfect for strolling at your leisure. Many of the 200-year-old mansions have been renovated and converted into businesses. This part of town is bursting with activity day and night, and is known for its street events. This center has developed into Curaçao's most popular nightlife spot. On weekends, the neighborhood is known for its live music.
PUNDA / SCHARLOO / OTRABANDA
Punda, which means "the point," is the oldest part of Willemstad and is full of monumental buildings. It is the largest shopping area on the island with an entire city block of shopping streets. Large parts of the city are on UNESCO's World Heritage List. The monumental buildings have been restored to their original state and are colored in tropical colors. A wonderful place to walk around and relax in the many cafes.
Otrobanda means "the other side" and has a long shopping street and a large mall, the Riffort Mall and the adjacent Renaissance hotel & shopping area.
SALIÑA
Saliña is a widely dispersed commercial district. It consists of a number of sub-neighboring districts such as Zeelandia, Kintjan, Cerito and Arrarat. Most of the traffic passes through this district daily in all directions. Therefore, there are also many stores, malls, restaurants and bars in this neighborhood. Businesses like to locate in this neighborhood because it is very centrally located.
